Nomination Process

The Nominating Committee of SAC Federal Credit Union is accepting nominees to serve on the Credit Union’s Board of Directors.  Any member who desires to run for the Board of Directors may do so now only by a nomination by petition signed by 500 of the Credit Union’s members. Petitions must be received by September 25, 2015.  Each nominee by petition must submit a brief statement of qualifications and biographical data along with a signed statement that the nominee is agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected. No nominations will be accepted at the Annual Meeting.

Each nominee (or petitioner) must submit to the President’s Assistant a brief statement of qualifications, biographical data and a signed certificate stating that they will serve if elected. Forms and details are available from the President’ Assistant, jgraves@sacfcu.com. No nominations will be accepted at the Annual Meeting.

The Nominating Committee has established the following guidelines for nominees:
Must have served on a credit union committee for any six month period prior to application
Must have good credit credentials
Financial and/or business background preferable

Election Procedures

SAC Federal Credit Union members will be able to vote at designated Credit Union branches prior to the Annual Meeting for the candidates of their choosing to serve on the Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors has approved four nominees from members who submitted their applications. An election will not be conducted by ballot when there is only one nominee for each position to be filled. MEMBERS UNABLE TO VOTE IN PERSON MAY VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT. Requests for absentee ballots may be submitted NOW and must be made in writing to:

Please include your name, address, account number, and sign your request if it is in writing. Absentee ballots will be mailed beginning October 6, 2015. In order to be counted, all absentee ballots must be received by the Credit Union no later than November 1, 2015.

To be eligible to vote, you must be a member of SAC Federal Credit Union by September 30, 2015. A member is considered to be an account holder, 18 years old or older, and primary on the account. There is one vote per member, not per account. Election results will be announced during the Annual Meeting at the SAC Federal Credit Union’s Corporate Headquarters in Papillion, NE on Friday, November 6, 2015.

Nominated Candidates Information

Candidates are listed in random order.

Whitney C. Bonifant

Retired management and operations consultant. Education includes a Bachelor of Science from Ohio University and Masters of Business Administration from University of Nebraska Omaha. A credit union member since 2006 and served on the SAC Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee since 2011. Completed the CUNA Volunteer Achievement Program certification for Supervisory Committee members. Completed 30 correspondence courses through CUNA. Bonifant also served a three year term on the board of the Valmont Employees Credit Union. Has 30 years of experience working with Valmont Industries in a variety of management and executive positions. Most recently as a management consultant acting as General Manager for Valmont acquisitions in Oregon, Colorado, Canada, England, Mexico and Holland. Responsibilities included operations and financial management, strategic planning, developing the annual operating plan, and managing the cost structure.
Taught marketing at Metropolitan Community College for 5 years and worked for the Creighton Business Institute as a problem solving and team building instructor. Taught in the aviation program at Ohio University. Served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Patrick L. Jones

Retired Lieutenant Colonel, USAF. Served Strategic Air Command as Chief, Intelligence Data Processing Division and Chief, Airborne Command Post Programming Division, and as Command Pilot. A Vietnam combat veteran in Air Commandos, his military awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medals, Commendation Medal, and Air Medals. Founder/owner of Tri-J Computer Services, now retired. Education includes a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Utah and BS in Political Science from Oklahoma State University; Served 16 years on Bellevue School Board and as Past President; Offutt Advisory Council Co-Commander; served on the Nebraska Association of School Boards Board of Directors, Vice President of the Sarpy Serenaders Board of Directors, and Past President of both the Bellevue Dawn and Noon Optimist Clubs. He has been a SAC FCU volunteer since 1992, and was elected to serve on the Board of Directors in March, 1993. He currently serves on the following Committees: New Products & Services, Long-Range Planning, Loan Review, and Annual Meeting Committees; He is Personnel Committee Chairman and Collections Committee Chairman, as well as Board Chairman of SAC Financial Services, Inc. He was re-elected in October, 2014, for a one-year term on the SAC FCU Board of Directors.

Steve Williamson

Facilities Operations Maintenance Manager at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. Retired Command Chief Master Sergeant for the United States Strategic Command. During his Air Force career, he held numerous positions within the Security Forces career field. After retiring from his nearly 27 year Air Force career, Steve was a self-employed small business owner. He was an adjunct professor and assisted with course curriculum development at Bellevue University. Education includes a Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nebraska. He is actively involved in the community and serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Sanitary Improvement District #514. He has served on various SAC FCU committees and the board of directors for 18 years. He received certifications for Supervisory Committee levels I and II, and the Edward Filene Award from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and has completed over 26 Volunteer Achievement Program self-study courses.

Victor LaPuma

Assistant General Counsel, Father Flanagan’s Boys’ Home. He has been a practicing attorney since 1982. His areas of experience include arbitration, business transactions, copyrights, criminal law, employment law, estate planning, health law, immigration, insurance law, intellectual property, litigation, mediation, negotiations, and privacy law. He has served as a Judge Advocate for the United States Air Force, both on active duty and with Air National Guard for 21 years. In addition, he has worked as an attorney advisor for the federal government and been in private practice. He has been a college professor since 1984. He is a Retired Lieutenant Colonel Air National Guard Staff Judge Advocate. His education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in biological health from Penn State and Juris Doctorate from the Catholic University of America. He is a Certified Financial Planner. He has been a SAC FCU volunteer since 1999, and was elected to the Board of Directors in November, 2000. He currently serves on the following Committees: Loan Review, Investment, Budget, Information Technology Advisory, and Annual Meeting Committees. He was re-elected in November, 2012, for a three-year term on the SAC FCU Board of Directors.
