Frequently Asked Questions

SAC Federal Credit Union is excited to announce that we have purchased ownership of your credit card business from FIA Card Services and will assume the servicing of your account in May 2012. Please take the time to review these Frequently Asked Questions carefully so that you will know what to expect and how to plan accordingly.

Q. Do I need to cancel my current credit card?

A. No. FIA will automatically transfer your credit card for you on May 20, 2012. All outstanding balances will be transferred to your new credit card account owned by SAC FCU.

Q. Will I keep the Rewards points I've earned with my current credit card?

A. Yes. Your points will automatically transfer to your new card number on May 20, 2012. Any new points earned will be added to your current point balance.

Q. When will my credit card be replaced?

A. Your credit card will be replaced between May 9, 2012 – May 18, 2012. At that time, you will receive replacement cards for you and any co-applicant and/or authorized user(s) on your account. On May 20, 2012, your FIA Card Services issued credit card will no longer be valid and you will need to activate and start using your new credit card. On May 18, 2012, your FIA issued convenience checks will no longer be valid.

Q. Why is my account number changing?

A. Your account number is changing because your credit card is being replaced with a new SAC FCU issued credit card.

On or after May 20, 2012, you will need to provide your updated account information to any merchants with whom you have recurring payments (e.g., your utility provider, mobile phone provider or fitness center, etc.) and any bill payment services that you use.

Q. Will my Personal Identification Number (PIN) change?

A. Yes. If you wish to use your card to make Cash Advances at ATM locations worldwide, you will need a new PIN number. This can be requested after May 20, 2012.

Q. Will I continue to receive my credit card statement at the same time each month?

A. Your statement date may change by a few days. Be sure to note your new Payment Due Date on your first account statement that you receive and adjust your payment as needed.

Q. How can I obtain statement (payments, access check, applications, etc.) copies after the transition?

A. After the transition, FIA will direct all servicing requests to SAC FCU for fulfillment, including statement requests. Please Note: you should go online BEFORE May 18 to save and/or print any statements. After this May 18th, a notable fee will apply for accessing FIA credit card account statements.

Q. Will I receive a new credit card if my account is closed?

A. If your credit card is closed or no longer in good standing as of April 9, 2012, you will not receive a replacement credit card. However, if you have an outstanding balance, you will continue to receive monthly statements until your balance is paid in full.

Q. Will I still be able to make payments on my credit card account by calling FIA Card Services?

A. No. After May 18, 2012, you will no longer be able to make payments on this account through FIA Card Services.

Q. Can I continue to schedule payments online and see my account online?

A. Yes, up until May 18th. You can continue to schedule your credit card payments online at www.fiacardservices.com but only through May 18, 2012. Please note that any payment scheduled to post to your account after May 18, 2012 will be cancelled and you will no longer be able to access your account online at www.fiacardservices.com . Please go online BEFORE May 18 to save and/or print any statements. Beginning May 20, 2012, you can schedule your payments at www.sacfcu.com.

Q. How will payments by phone be handled?

A. You can continue to make payments by phone for your credit card account through May 18, 2012. Please note that any payment scheduled to post to your account after May 18, 2012 will be cancelled.

Q. How will my Automatic Payments be handled?

A. Any automatic payments scheduled with FIA Card Services in writing (payments that are automatically deducted by FIA Card Services from a checking or savings deposit account) that are scheduled to post to the customer's credit card after May 17, 2012 will be cancelled. Beginning on May 20, 2012, you may stop into any of our branches to set up an automatic payment.

Please note that if you have any other electronic payment arrangement or bill payment service and there is any payment scheduled to post after May 18, 2012, you should make arrangements to have those payments rescheduled using your new credit card account number and the new bill payment address as provided.

Q. Will my credit line remain the same?

A. Yes. Your account will be converted with the same line.

Q. Will the conversion impact my credit score?

A. No. Your credit score will not be impacted by the conversion. The transfer of your account from FIA Card Services to SAC FCU has no impact on your credit score.

Q. What will be the new late fee on credit card payments?

A. Your late fee will remain the same at $25.

Q. Why is the payment address Des Moines, Iowa if SAC FCU is based in Omaha?

A. Our payment processing center for credit cards is based in Des Moines, Iowa.

Q. Will my WorldPoints Rewards be added to the points I will acquire on the new card?

A. Yes, your current points will transfer in full to the new card. Also, your transferred points will have a new expiration date of May 2015. This later expiration date gives you time to earn more points for an even bigger redemption in the future. Any new points earned will be added to your transferred points.

A. Can I secure a copy of my current account terms for comparison to the new terms?

A. Yes, up until May 18th. If needed, please make this request by calling 402-514-4914. Please provide your name, member number, and the last 4 digits of your FIA credit card number.

Q. Can I reject the Change in Terms?

A. Yes, you may do so by calling 855-222-2130.

Q. What will happen if I reject the Change in Terms?

A. You will follow the existing Account Terms until your balance is paid in full. Depending on the timing of your rejection, you may or may not receive a new card by mail. If you do receive the card, it will not be activated. Please simply destroy and discard the plastic.

Q. What benefits will the new credit card from SAC FCU provide?

A. Members can expect many appealing features and benefits from the new program. Among them are a new and exciting rewards system, no interest charged on interest, and your entire monthly payments will be applied to your highest interest balance. SAC FCU will be in touch with much more information about your new credit card in the weeks to come.

Q. When can I apply for a credit card?

A. Members without an SAC FCU credit card can apply for the new offer starting May 21, 2012.
