Strike Out Hunger

One summer day Food Bank for the Heartland staff met a mother of five young children named Gina. Gina said the father of the children moved out because the kids “were more than he bargained for.” Gina’s mother watched the kids at night while Gina worked. When it came to meal time, Gina sadly gave her children the option of eating lunch or dinner because she couldn’t afford both.
With your support, Food Bank for the Heartland can continue to help people like Gina. Please consider making a contribution in this year’s 10th annual Strike Out Hunger campaign. SAC Federal Credit Union is one of 28 businesses competing in a friendly competition to determine which firm can generate the most food and funds overall and per employee. You can make your gift at the link below specifically for SAC Federal Credit Union employees.

For every $1 you give, the Food Bank can distribute enough food for three meals! In the area served by the Food Bank, approximately 220,000 people struggle with hunger, 87,000 are children under the age of 18. Meantime, you can stay up-to-date on the Strike Out Hunger competition by visiting the Food Bank’s Facebook Scoreboard. More information on the campaign can also be found at Thanks for your support! Let’s make sure we send hunger to the bench this year!
